Preventing Gender-Based Violence in the workplace with the Private Sector Advisory Committee in Lesotho

Context

Gender-Based Violence and Harassment (GBVH) remains a challenge in Lesotho’s workplaces, despite growing awareness. Many companies still lack the tools and frameworks to turn commitments into action.

The Private Sector Advisory Committee (PSAC) is a public-private platform established in 2025, composed of representatives of private sector companies, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MOLE) and the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development (MGYSD). It serves as the principal leadership, coordination, and advocacy mechanism for national dialogue on GBVH. As a newly formed organisation, the PSAC is seeking support from the GG ICR Facility to translate commitments on the prevention of GBVH in the workplace into a practical Prevention Toolkit and delivering a training-of trainers to empower workplaces across Lesotho.

Objectives

This technical assistance project aims to:

Develop a GBVH Prevention Toolkit for the PSAC,
Train leaders and focal persons to implement the Toolkit and cascade knowledge within their organisations.

Expected results

By the end of this project:

PSAC members will be better equipped to prevent and respond to GBVH through the use of a locally adapted Prevention Toolkit,
Trained leaders and focal persons will not only implement the Toolkit but also be capacitated to train their colleagues.

These improvements will contribute to a more conducive, inclusive and sustainable investment climate, supporting the Global Gateway ambition of fostering equitable private sector growth, decent jobs and responsible business practices.
