Enhancing Access to Finance for Women-Owned Enterprises

 

Women’s economic empowerment is key to ensuring that women not only enjoy equal rights and liberties but also, that they are able to contribute to a nation’s socio- economic progress.
Beyond the subject of social justice, women’s economic empowerment is also recognised as a critical driver of sustainable economic growth When women are economically empowered, they contribute to poverty reduction, improved family well being, and the overall development of communities and nations.

This report provides an evaluation of the state of access to finance by Women Owned Enterprises in Nigeria, providing insights into the barriers and challenges faced by Women Owned Enterprises in accessing finance as well as best practices and recommendations for facilitating interventions and driving the increased uptake of financial products by WoEs in Nigeria Key success criteria are identified, with recommendations on how best to scale them. The study also outlines the key policy initiatives that would improve access to finance for WoEs in general.
