Context

The ICR Facility provided support to the International Network of Francophone Investment Promotion Agencies (RIAFPI) in order for member agencies to be in a position to better ensure the promotion and protection of the interests of companies, and to develop their capacity to be a source of proposals to the authorities.

Objective

The support was specifically requested on:

  • How to better assist investors in the development of their operations;
  • How to advocate within the public administration on the measures needed to improve the country’s attractiveness
  • How to develop documents on competitiveness measures benefiting foreign investors

Result

28 participants from Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Chad, Congo, Gabon, Comoros, Cameroon and Senegal benefited from a joint training in December 2020. During the 1st semester of 2021, four agencies benefited from individual support and tutoring to discuss the first steps of their annual workplan to implement lessons learned. Examples of the provided support include how to choose Key Performance Indicators to evaluate the efficiency of their aftercare systems, or how to best structure a database of foreign firms in the country. At the end of the semester, the eight agencies shared their experiences and best practices during a workshop with all RIAFPI members.
